The Business Partners Limited Women’s Fund provides business finance ranging from R500 000 to R10 million to women entrepreneurs with a viable formal business. Finance can be used for property acquisition, working capital, equipment or asset finance, acquisitions or takeovers, or as replacement finance.

To qualify, the business needs to meet the following criteria:

  • The business must be directly owned by natural persons
  • The business must be a private company or close corporation
  • 50% of the business must be owned by women who are actively involved in the business
  • The business must have a trading history of no less than 2 years
  • The business’s annual turnover must be less than R20 million

Our first assessment is based on the cash flow viability and potential of the business, the product/service and its market acceptability, market size, the gearing of the business debt to capital ratio of the business which influences its ability to exist and grow, the business’ track record, the stage of its development and medium to long-term profit potential, technical aspects, location of the business. This makes us different from most traditional financiers, particularly banks, who focus on security (the extent of the owner’s equity and collateral)
  2. Our next assessment is on the entrepreneurwe evaluate their technical and management skills and experience, credit worthiness, their business acumen – their ability to run a successful business on sound business principles and their personal principles such as integrity, drive and vision

We do not finance the following businesses under the Business Partners Limited Women’s Fund:

  • Trusts
  • Businesses with less than 50% shareholding by women entrepreneurs who are actively involved in the business
  • Existing Business Partners Limited clients (Excluding Sukuma and Tourism Fund clients who qualify for finance under the Women’s Fund.)
  • Existing Business Partners Limited Energy Fund for SMEs clients

We structure the financing term and cost of finance as part of our due diligence process and the cost of finance is adjusted for risk. The repayment term is limited to a maximum term of 60 months.

There is no minimum set for own contribution however, the gearing and other factors that affect the viability of a transaction are be taken into consideration. We would need the following:

  • Notarial bond over movable assets of the business
  • Surety of all directors and shareholders
  • Mortgage bond on property
  • Completed online application
  • Certified copy of IDs of all related parties
  • Company/ close corporation documents
  • Copy of company’s share register
  • Copy of Registration Certificate/ Founding Statement
  • Confirmation of bank account details issued by the relevant bank
  • Signed Annual financial statements not older than 12 months from the date of application
  • Signed Management Accounts not older than 3 months from the date of application

    A rental statement (premises), not older than 1 month
  • Statements for any other credit agreements such as ISA, bond facilities or trade finance – these statements must not be older than 3 months from the date of application
  • Statements of assets and liabilities for the main business owner/s
