2016 Entrepreneur of the Year® finalists, Lucas van Wyk and Eben Rootman from Advance Fenestration

Many entrepreneurs will tell the story of the months and sometimes even years that go into an idea and business model before the venture becomes a reality and the first order is received. This was not the case for Lucas van Wyk and Eben Rootman, owners of Advance Fenestration — an aluminium fenestration supplier — whose initial order triggered the creation of the business.

From the time of receiving their first order from a business in Zambia, Lucas and Eben set up everything in the short space of three weeks, using the deposit as their only funding. This meant that in just three weeks, they found a factory location, sourced machinery and materials, and ultimately managed to get the order completed and sent to the client.
